Here’s a message from Puget Sound Energy:

In an ongoing effort to deliver safe and reliable energy, Puget Sound Energy will be working in the Vashon area to upgrade the existing electric distribution system. This work will entail replacing a portion of the current aging overhead wire with tree wire and replacing related electrical equipment. PSE will also be replacing selected utility poles along the route. By installing tree wire in other locations, it has helped reduce power outages related to falling tree branches by up to 70 percent. PSE is committed to completing their work safely and efficiently, and their crews will do their best to reduce impacts to nearby neighbors. Please see below for project details.

Project details:

Who: Electric crews from PSE and Potelco
What: Replacing existing overhead electric wire with tree wire and selected utility poles
When: Starting early March and expected to be approximately two months of work.
Project duration could vary based on weather and crew assignments
Work hours are typically Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Where: Portions of Southwest Cove Road (west of 107St SW) to a small portion of Westside Highway SW, Vashon

What you can expect
Restricted driving in area when crews are conducting work
Prior to electrical work beginning, our tree trimming partner, Asplundh, will be trimming trees and bushes along the project route as necessary
You may notice materials staged along the route for installation
Signs and traffic control flaggers will guide vehicles and pedestrians safely through the work zone
There will likely be noise from trucks and heavy machinery during working hours
Some customers may experience a brief, planned power outage as a result of this work. All impacted customers will be notified of any planned outages in advance
PSE is proud to serve in our community and aim to complete the work with as little disruption as possible.
