Storm Advisory The PSE outage map shows about 11% of the Island without power. There are 21 outages remaining to be restored and 469 customers awaiting reconnection.Most Vashon outages are in the 1 to 10 household range. There are several outages with 100+ customers down. Some main affected areas include Point Vashon/Vashon Heights, Cedarhurst, Magnolia/Shawnee, South Maury, Spring Beach and Tahlequah. Crews are moving from outage to outage but some will soon need to take a mandatory rest after many hours in the field. Restoration times listed on the PSE Outage map are generally noon tomorrow.

There is no bus service operating on the island. Metro is still in its Emergency Service Network plan, which focuses on 49 key routes, all of them on the mainland.

Now for the weather. At this writing, it’s clear and chilly. But we have two snows inbound. There’s a consensus among all sources on this. Total snow estimates from the two storms range from 7 to 13 inches. Here’s the Vashon-specific forecast info for the two snows.

– The first one arrives late this afternoon, initially a rain/snow mix turning quickly to snow. The first event could deliver 1 to 2 inches of snow.

– The second snow begins early Monday morning. and will drop much more snow. Estimates vary. The National Weather Service forecasts another 8 to 13 inches. WeatherUnderground says 6 to 10 inches.

– Daytime highs are predicted for the mid-30s and forecast lows are in the mid-20s to 30 degrees. No significant wind is being predicted.
