R-E-S-P-E-C-T with DJ Rik

I’m the type of guy who always has a song going through my mind, sometimes more than one. My dreams have full soundtracks. And, while I like lots of types of music, including jazz, blues and rock & roll, my first, longest, and forever love is soul, funk and R&B music.

My show “R-E-S-P-E-C-T” (which of course is from Aretha Franklin’s smash hit version of the Otis Redding song “Respect”) is my way of appreciating the music and the musicians who created this music. It allows me to share my vast collection of music and my knowledge of it. It gives me great pleasure to play a favorite cut from an artist, and give the listener insight into it.
I’m not a musician, but a person who has listened to this music since I “was knee-high to a chicken” in Stevie Wonder’s words. Words are only ways of talking about it, and I don’t intend to put any strict boundaries on what I play. But R-E-S-P-E-C-T focuses on all aspects of soul music, gives respect to the artists who made it, and spins great songs that have made the world a better place for all of us.
My shows are recorded by audio engineer Vicky de Monterey Richoux.
