PSA ~ ADA Sidewalks

February 26th, 2021 by VoV

King County Roads just published their King Co Draft ADA Transition Plan and will be taking public comments till March 22nd.
Very few of Vashon’s sidewalks and crossings are ADA compliant, but Roads has a “fiscal crisis” on their hands. For the next six years, they only have $900,000 to fix existing sidewalks and crossings that are not ADA compliant, but they estimate fixing all of the sidewalks and crossings in the county that are not ADA compliant will cost over $500 million. The more residents of a Subarea (like VMI) that submit feedback, then perhaps the more likely funds will be directed our way.
Comments can be submitted to traffic engineer John Vander Sluis (jvandersluis@kingcounty.gov or 206-263-0621).
