PSA ~ VHS Class of 2021 Senior Parade

May 18th, 2021 by VoV

Everywhere, High School Seniors in the class of 2021, are faced with the problem of Graduation Ceremonies in the time of Pandemic. All the air just seems to leak out of all the fun, pomp and circumstance. But here on Vashon, the Class of 2021 has launched themselves into something so wonderful it might become permanent. A Parade! A graduation parade, with all the graduates in their caps and gowns in a stream of decorated cars driven by someone else so that the graduate can wave and take bows and otherwise express their excitement at taking on the world.

The parade will be on Saturday, June 12th, beginning at 1PM at the Harbor School and ending at 2PM at the Vashon Roasterie; every car will pause at the Voice of Vashon’s Jean Bosch studio where a booth will be outside for Martha Enson and Kevin Joyce to announce the name of each graduate and comment on the whole shebang. Friends and family are encouraged to park along the parade route and holler to the grads as they drive past. If you’re on foot, then Pandemic protocols are in order with masks and social distancing.

The Senior Parade. Saturday, June 12th from 1 to 2PM. This has been a Voice of Vashon Public Service Announcement, Happy Workarounds Department.
