REALTalk ~ Doubting Thomas

November 12th, 2019 by Susan McCabe

What happens when a happy white couple unexpectedly gives birth to a black baby?  That is the topic of “Doubting Thomas,” a movie that will screen at the Vashon Theatre Saturday, November 16, 8pm.  Producer Mark Sayre and writer/director/star Will McFadden join host Susan McCabe this week to ‘tease’ out the mystery presented by the couple’s situation and the dynamic social and racial questions it explores.  The film, based on a true story, has had Sayre and McFadden working to complete it for nearly ten years.  Their story is about how the characters and the surprise ending evolved over that period, of setbacks and returns that finally wound up in an award-winning finished product. The film won the Audience Award for Best Feature Film at Dances with Films in 2018; Best Actor (Will McFadden), Best Screenplay (Will McFadden), and Best Supporting Actress (Melora Walters) at the Golden Door International Film Festival in 2018; and the Golden Strands (Will McFadden) for Outstanding First Feature at the Tallgrass International Film Festival in 2018. Tune in.  You’ll have a hard time believing it’s REAL.
