REALTalk ~ The Japanese Experience On Vashon

July 14th, 2020 by Susan McCabe

Vashon Island’s history includes the history of a robust Japanese community that contributed mightily to Vashon’s economy and culture from 1900 through World War II and beyond. Filmmakers Michael Monteleone and Dennis Lambert have chronicled the Japanese Experience on Vashon in the VoV documentary series “Vashon Then and Now.” The two completed Part 1 of the Japanese Experience story in 2018, the story that took Vashon’s Japanese Americans from 1900 to 1942 and internment camps. Join host Susan McCabe as she learns from Monteleone and Lambert about the rest of the story — The Japanese Experience (on Vashon) after 1942, Part 2 soon to be released. Tune in. It’s sure to be REAL.
