KVSH has added some great new shows including a cooking show, bluegrass and country, music from a specific year and chats with our Vashon neighbors.
Here’s what we have in the lineup:
Classic Hour w/ Michael Tracy
First Mondays from 1-2 pm
Michael Tracy has been a resident on Vashon for over 7 years. Before moving to Vashon Michael lived for over 25 years in Manhattan. Michael will introduce listeners to music written from 1700 to today along with biographical information on the composers and historical insight into their era.
Inspired Island w/ Grace McRae
Mondays from 6-7 pm
Inspired Island spotlights the many people who make Vashon Island the dynamic community it is today. Host Grace McRae interviews the many business owners, community leaders, award-winning chefs, bestselling authors, historians, and artists who call Vashon “home.” KVSH listeners will hear how these talented Vashon residents got to where they are today and why they love our island community, with plenty of fun stories along the way.
Stirring the Pot w/ Linda Nygaard
Live Wednesdays from 1-2 pm
Host Linda Nygaard’s show is all about food, it’s history, conversation with local foodies, farmers and chefs, and a recipe every week.
Big Lonesome Radio w/ Hugh Turner
Live Fridays from 1-2 pm
Like most epic adventures, Big Lonesome Radio is a journey measured in both time and distance. It runs the full length of Appalachia from Cape Breton to New England and south to Virginia, Kentucky and Tennessee. From there the road turns west eventually passing through Louisiana, Texas, and Oklahoma. The final arc sweeps through the high desert of California before reaching home in the Pacific Northwest.
The Year in Music w/ Rick Ames
Live Fridays from 3-4 pm
The Year in Music takes a look back at a single year and delves into the the music, news and current events of that year. Join host Rick Ames to hear some of your favorite oldies or maybe something you never heard before.
Island Tribe w/ Peggy Rubens-Ellis & Woody Pollock
Saturdays from 12-1 pm
Peggy and Woody interview locals that work with or interact with island youth. For an island of around 10,000, we have an incredible range of skilled people with interesting backgrounds and philosophies. Peggy and Woody dig into their passions, their programs and how they help to make Vashon Island an amazing place to grow up–from birth to graduation. Join us as we interview everyone from a piano teacher to a physician and learn a Parenting Tip from each of our guests.
Join DJ Billy Pilgrim Saturday night for his weekly explorations of epic soundscapes spanning psychedelia, garage and other cerebral sonic ephemera for discerning ears.
