Permits Still Required Vashon Island Fire & Rescue has announced that the burn ban has been lifted and burning is allowed only with a permit. Permits are available on The VIFR website at vifr.org under Fire Safety, Burning and Burning Permits or call their office at (206) 463-2405 for them to mail out, or come by VIFR’s office (10020 SW Bank Road) open M-F, 8a-5p to pick one up. Recreational fire rules

* Must be built in a metal or concrete fire pit * Not grow larger than 3-feet in diameter * Be set in a clear spot free from vegetation for at least 10-feet in width * Be at least 25-feet from any structure * Allow 20-foot high clearance from overhanging branches * Be watched at all times by an alert person with equipment capable of putting the fire out This message was posted at 10:30 on Saturday and will be updated as needed.
