Morning Scramble – Conversation with Patterson Hood

May 2nd, 2019 by Jeff Hoyt

Patterson Hood

He was born in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, the son of the bass player for the famed Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section. Growing up in a hotbed of transformational music going back to the birth of rock ’n roll, Patterson Hood’s roots are steeped in the craft of making music. He moved to Portland a few years ago, finally leaving Alabama behind for good. He has things to say about how his music is made and what “Southern heritage” means to him. Ahead of his show on May 7th at the Vashon Theater (presented by Debra Heesch), Patterson hopped on the phone with Jeff for the better part of an hour. Featuring songs by Patterson Hood, Drive-By Truckers and Todd Rundgren.
