Island singer-songwriter-character actor-foley master Jon Whalen has reimagined the notion of the “showcase concert.” Instead of having artists take the stage one after another to perform a song based on a certain artist, period or genre, Jon has written a play that will bring the music of “Oh, Brother, Where Art Thou?” to the Kay White Hall at VCA. It’s not the movie. It’s not The Odyssey (on which the movie was based). It’s whole different thing. Here, Jon and Kat Eggleston perform songs from the collection and talk with Jeff Hoyt about this most unusual presentation.
