Vashon Sings “Imagine”

January 15th, 2017 by Voice of Vashon & Vashon Center For The Arts

Vashon Center for the Arts hosted the first ever Pop-up Choir for a Cause on Thursday, December 8, 2016 in the Katherine L White Hall.

For many, post-election craziness has turned us all blue. As we enter this period of tumultuous transition in our country, we all feel the need to take a stand and have our voices heard. What better way than through the healing power of music and John Lennon’s “Imagine!”

In his words: “Imagine all the people living life in peace…” These timeless lyrics continue to impact all those who hear them.
Our mission is to bring together the people of Vashon Island to create a passionate musical message of unity, peace and healing that will be filmed, edited and released to the masses on social media.

Singers of any age were welcome, and reading music was not a requirement! VCA provided the space, the leadership, the musicians, the music and the lyrics. Vashon Islanders provided their voices and their desire to help heal the country!

Molly Reed of VCA imagined the chorus of Islanders and Joe Farmer of Vashon Island Chorale and well-known island accompanist, Evan Stults (piano), lead the event accompanied Nancy Morgan (flute), Ainslie McLeod (bass) Gib Dammann (percussion) and Steve Amsden (guitar).
