Vietnam Series ~ Episode 6B ~ Donut Dollies

June 8th, 2021 by Steve Nourse

The Donut Dollies are no different in many ways from the males who fought the war . As a group of female Red Cross volunteers, the Donut Dollies officially began traveling with American soldiers during World War II. On a surface level, their roles seemed simple: provide wholesome entertainment and a “taste” of home to the young men fighting for their country. They were placed in the “fiend’ on firing bases, hoy spots, and heard the sirens go off when the camp they were located in was under attach by mortars and rockets.
